Welcome to Chiltern Cross Country, an equestrian XC training ground nestled in the heart of South Oxfordshire in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Created by British Eventing approved course builder, Adrian Ditcham, there are over one hundred flagged jumps ranging from 40cm to 100cm including everything you would expect to encounter in grass roots eventing.
Our super friendly environment is suitable for all riders from those just starting out to 5* event riders bringing their youngsters. The course includes a water complex, sunken road, ditches, steps, skinnies, brush fences and an owl hole. With over 100 jumps to choose from, there is something for everyone. As well as a start box we have two numbered courses marked out. Purple numbers are for a 70 / 80cm course, while orange numbers are for 90 / 100cm.
Coloured squares mark the height of each jump to help you select the most appropriate for your level. They are colour coded as follows: a yellow square indicates a 60cm jump, red is for 70cm, green for 80cm, blue for 90cm and grey for 100cm.
In addition, Freshers’ Field is a dedicated area of small jumps, ranging from 40cm to 60cm to help build confidence for less experienced riders or young horses.
Excellent grass cover and well drained ground mean that we are usually able to open from early March until late October, depending what the weather has in store. We are lucky to have access to a herd of sheep to act as little mowers and rollers over the winter to help maintain optimum conditions for the following season.
Visitors also love our huge car park, wash bay, picnic tables, handy poop scoopers and our loo, which was declared ‘better than granny’s’ by one young rider.
Situated just off the A4074 on the outskirts of Woodcote, South Oxfordshire, ChilternXC is very easy to find.
